The N Game is the result of a creative collaboration between designers with the Engage Program and Teri Balser who directs the Institute for Biology Education.
After realizing that the Nitrogen cycle was both hard to teach and very important to numerous fileds of study, the team designed a card game that models the complex chemistry and ecological events that transform nitrogen atoms through various forms.
The N Game pits players against each other in a race to the Nitrogen cycle finish line.Players move their Nitrogen (N) tokens on the game board through the various “pools” (chemical forms) of the Nitrogen Cycle and back to the starting N2 pool. The first player to move three of his/her N tokens through the cycle and back to N2 wins the game.
