This event is an exciting opportunity to play a new board game developed by Professor Teri Balser and her team in collaboration with DoIT Engage, to teach strategy, systems thinking, and nitrogen cycling. It has received rave reviews from play testers around the country, and now we want to bring it to you! The game is a hybrid board game-card game where you collect resources and use bacteria (“agents”) to move nitrogen from the atmosphere through the terrestrial world and back to the atmosphere while avoiding environmental snags and snafus foisted upon you by your fellow players. Prior knowledge of the N cycle or chemistry is helpful but not required. Card game experience is helpful. Game is playable for ages 12 to infinity. Can be played as an individual against an opposing team, or in teams of two.
Winning team(s) will get a copy of the N-Cycle board game to take home, and possible other cool swag, and the bragging rights as supreme NGame rulers.
The tournament will begin at 1pm with a short description of the tournament structure. If you are not familiar with the game, or simply wish to pick up some tips and tricks, we will be offering a game tutorial to go over the rules of the game, and give you a chance to try playing and look over the cards from 11:30am to 1pm.
Please register no later than Tuesday July 5th at the following URL:
Participation will be limited to the first 16 teams that register. A single “team” can be made up of one or two people. Please indicate how many people are on the team on the registration form.
